Portrait of Marc Dorpema

My research asks how different forms of political organization have mediated the relationship between capitalism and the environment over the past half century. I do so through multiple disciplinary lenses that include environmental history, histories of capitalism, comparative political economy, and international relations. Further interests include empires, architecture, and how power flows through nature.

Currently, I’m a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Weatherhead Scholars Program at Harvard University, where I’m working on turning my dissertation into a book.

In my free time, I enjoy walking (definitely not running), traveling, and listening to all kinds of music.
